Ashdod has about 56,000 pupils, 132 schools and 443 kindergartens, and each residential quarter was planned with its own schools, parks and public services. Registration for gans and schools is online through the municipality, and Ironit runs the afternoon tzaharon programmes.

Register for gan or school
Registration for 2026-27 opened on 19 January 2026 through the municipal online system; dates for 2027-28 had not been published on 9 October 2026. The Registration Department is at 4 HaKlita St, 2nd floor (08-9568282).

Arrange a tzaharon
Ironit runs afternoon programmes in gans (Sun-Thu 14:00-17:00, with hot lunch) and in schools; registration for 2026-27 gan places ran 3-16 August 2026.

Find daycare for 0-3s
Ashdod has 46 subsidised daycare centres run by non-profits such as Ironit, Na'amat, WIZO and Emunah, plus municipal home-based mishpachtonim.

Register at Tipat Halav
The municipality lists Ministry of Health mother-and-child stations in most quarters, from Rova Alef to Rova Yud-Gimel.

Know about Shefi
The municipal educational psychology service has about 40 psychologists and a team that speaks Hebrew, English, Russian, Spanish, French, Romanian and Amharic.

Get outside
Ashdod Yam Park has playgrounds (including adapted equipment), a lake, a skatepark and a pump track; Lachish Park runs along the stream in the north.

Gan registration is only a request: you may list two preferred gans and placements arrive in June. Grade 7 placement follows your child's elementary school automatically.
